1. Who we are
Trade Visibility is a UK marketing agency for construction and trade businesses. We also run a free service that connects homeowners with vetted local tradespeople, and a referral programme for architects. This policy explains how we handle personal information across our website and those services.
We are the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us at hello@tradevisibility.com or on 07903 803563.
2. What information we collect
- Details you give us through our forms, such as your name, business name, phone number, email address, postcode or project address, the type of work you need, project details and any photos or drawings you upload.
- If you are an architect referring a client, your details and the client's name, contact details and project information that you share with us.
- Records of calls, emails and messages between you and us.
- Basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type and device, collected when you use our website.
3. How we use your information
- To respond to your enquiry and contact you by phone and email to discuss next steps.
- To book and run your free strategy call.
- To match homeowners with a suitable vetted tradesperson and arrange quotes.
- To contact clients who have been referred to us by an architect, and to let the architect know if the job goes ahead so we can pay a referral thank-you fee.
- To run, improve and secure our website and services.
- To prevent spam, fraud and misuse, for example by limiting repeated form submissions.
- To meet our legal obligations.
4. Our lawful bases
Under UK data protection law we need a lawful basis to use your information. We rely on:
- Consent, when you tick the box on our forms to agree that we can contact you by phone and email about next steps. You can withdraw this consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests, to run and improve our business, keep our website secure and prevent spam.
- Contract, where you become a customer and we need your information to provide our services.
- Legal obligation, where we are required by law to keep or share certain information.
5. Contacting you
When you submit a form and tick the consent box, you agree that we may contact you by phone and email to discuss next steps. If a client has been referred by an architect, the architect has confirmed that the client is happy for us to contact them. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time by emailing or calling us using the details at the bottom of this page.
6. Who we share your information with
- Homeowners: the tradesperson or tradespeople we match to your job, so they can arrange a quote.
- Architects: the architect who referred a client may be told whether the referral progressed, so that any referral fee can be paid.
- Service providers who help us run the business, such as website hosting, form and spreadsheet tools, and email and phone providers. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Authorities or advisers, where the law requires it or where we need to protect our rights.
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Transfers outside the UK
Some of our service providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we take steps to make sure appropriate safeguards are in place.
8. How long we keep your information
We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above. As a general rule that is up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you become a customer or we are required to keep it for longer for legal or accounting reasons.
9. Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate;
- ask us to delete your information or restrict how we use it;
- object to us using your information, including for marketing;
- withdraw your consent at any time; and
- ask for your information in a portable format where that applies.
To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
10. Keeping your information secure
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Spam protection
To protect our forms from spam and automated sign-ups, we limit the number of submissions from each device and may use technical information, such as your IP address, to do this.
12. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website may use essential cookies and similar storage, for example your browser's local storage, to keep the site working and to limit repeat form submissions. If we add analytics or advertising cookies, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
